It has long been a goal of Sustainable Life to get back to basics where the health care system is concerned. Modern day Doctors are over-loaded and over-burdened with patients that have minor health problems, which tax the insurance system. People these days just don't seem to understand any general health situations and common remedies. And when they do become aware of what their health problems are, they have difficulty finding a solution that is safe, cost effective, and immediate.
In our research of the medical profession, we have found a shortage of nurses and care-givers, a shortage of Doctors and time. When we brainstormed, we found the following option to be a viable solution. It could also create interesting employment; not only in creating the positions, but also in coordinating the calls/visits and maintaining records. Is it more cost effective than the current health care system provides? We believe it is. All that is needed are willing people ready to meet and implement them.
1) Gather a team of Doctors that service one county through a local hospital.
2) Assign a team of Nurses that live in various sections of the county to each Doctor.
number of Nurses on a team to one Dr. would depend on the population of
the county the hospital serves.
3) Assign a neighborhood community to the Nurse that lives within its boundaries.
In a city, it might take in a 4-6 block area for each Nurse, or the whole small
rural community if it is under 1,000 population.
4) Train the Nurses for minor health and common problems, all other situations
would be referred to the patient's Doctor whomever that might be. A
Doctor is on-call for these 24/7 as would the Nurse.
5) The Nurses would hold block gatherings to teach each neighborhood what to look
for, what to do, and how to treat common minor problems.
a) alternative natural preventative medicine could be taught also.
6) When a problem arises, the patient would contact the Nurse first, then the Dr. if
needed.
This would alleviate any confusion and health costs for many who panick at minor health problems to receive professional care promptly and caringly before a Dr. would need to see them.
